HANDY PERSON SERVICE
Age Concern Lewisham has set up a Handy Person scheme to help local older people carry out tasks that they may find difficult. We have a team of supervised volunteers who are able to help.
This service is available to older people who live in Lewisham who are over 60 years old, and do not have any family able to help.
The service is free, but you may be required to pay for materials such as door chains and locks.
The Handypersons service can carry out tasks such as :-
- Fitting door chains / spy holes
- Fitting smoke alarms
- Unblocking sinks
- Putting up / taking down curtains
- Putting up shelves
- Replacing fuses and plugs
- Replacing small windows
The service cannot carry out tasks such :-
- Electrical work
- Gas work
- Plastering
- Painting and decorating
- Repairing central heating
- Mending cookers, boilers or TVs
- Roofing or guttering work
