SOUTH SOUTHWARK HEALTHY AGEING CENTRE
This centre has recently moved to a new location in the Nunhead area. The project has moved from Lime Tree House to a purpose built community centre at the St Anthony's with St Silas church in Nunhead. The move was completed over Christmas, and now much work is being done to raise the profile of the organisation in the local area.
The centre is run by a new manager and also a centre worker, with assistance from 3 volunteers.
A new programme of activities an events have been devised to compliment the traditional Age Concern services to enhance our Healthy Ageing work.
A number of trips have been arranged to go to the Pantomime, the Imperial War Museum and other places of interest. The service users are encouraged to take part in keep fit sessions, quizzes and also competitions to help keep and active body and mind.
The centre is open between Monday and Saturday between 9am and 4pm, serving lunch and providing very popular activities such as the OTAGO Exercise classes, bingo, board games and other forms of arts and crafts.
